Make sure that vmware works on the local network, and install the vmware
software on the remote machine.

&lt;p&gt;To create the tunnel, run a command like &lt;tt&gt;ssh -N -L9021:localhost:902
 &lt;i&gt;vmware-server&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/tt&gt;, then enter &lt;tt&gt;localhost:9021&lt;/tt&gt; in the vmware
&amp;quot;connect to host&amp;quot; dialog.  The tunnel will remain available until the ssh
connection is closed.
