Canada dinner experience, links to photos [01123908684]
After being seated, Camilla showed up with our menus. Roger
asked about the vegetarian meal he had been promised on the phone, and she said
"who told you that?" and "that's not correct!"
Photos from my recent trip to Canada [01124916046]
Here are some photographs from my recent trip to British Columbia,
along with Ingrid and her folks. We first went to Victoria, visiting several
nearby beaches and the Buchant gardens. Later we went to Whistler, a ski
village north of Vancouver. I took only a few photos there. Finally, we spent
the last day and a half in Vancouver itself, but I didn't take any pictures.
Ingrid has more photos from Whistler and Vancouver, perhaps she'll put them
online someday.
Canada Trip 2007 [01184844627]
As we pause in Quebec City, I thought I should take the time to upload a few
photos.
Montréal Botanical Garden [01185205797]
(M)(L)Bee on coneflower
On our last day in Montréal the weather finally cleared—it had
been raining for two days straight—so Ingrid and I headed to the
Jardin Botanique (Botanical Garden). Unfortunately, we only had a few
hours to spend at the gardens and so we only saw about a quarter of it. In
that time I still managed to get a bunch of nice photos.
Canadian Rockies Panoramas [01313348226]
(M)(L)Cascade Pond
On this trip, I took a number of panoramic photographs. Click the "(L)" link for the truly huge, scrollable version of each panorama.
The panoramas were stitched (from as many as 20 images, or 1/8 of a gigapixel!)
using Hugin. This is a great—and
free—program that runs on Windows and Mac in addition to Linux; I can't
recommend it enough. When the images are decently aligned, it is a very fast
(and not at all fiddly) process to produce a very decent panorama.
Canada: Calgary [01314224658]
(M)(L)Dragonfly (Inglewood Bird Sanctuary)
In Calgary, we went to the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary and the Calgary Zoo.
Two days in Banff [01314325514]
(M)(L)Water at Lake Minnewanka
After Calgary, we stayed a few days in Banff, using it as a base of operations to conduct light hikes and picnicking in the national park. Locations visited included Cascade Pond, Two Jack Lake, Lake Minnewanka, Lake Louise, and Moraine Lake.
